About the Lecture:


The Office of the Commissioner of the Child in Malta will be offering this lecture specifically for dance teachers and staff working in dance education settings. The course will raise scenarios that could take place in a dance education setting. A participation certificate issued by the Royal Academy of Dance will be sent to all who attend.


Aims:


  • Create awareness of online risks for children

  • Highlight the important role of adults

  • Create a deeper understanding of the challenges children face online


Learning Outcomes:


  • Have an increased understanding of children’s online risks and how to identify them

  • Have an enhanced understanding of the role of adults in keeping children safe online

  • Be more aware of what children are exposed to online

  • Acquire the knowledge on how to help children

 

Content Outline:


  • Introduction to Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment

  • Overview of children’s use of technology

  • Understanding the risks children are exposed to online.

  • Discussion on online challenges

  • Discussion on the role of teachers

Suzanne Garcia Imbernon is the Manager at the Office of the Commissioner for Children, bringing 16 years of dedicated service to promoting and protecting children's rights. With a Master’s degree with a specific focus on Children’s Rights, she has a deep understanding of child rights principles and their practical application across various contexts. In her role, Suzanne leads key initiatives and strategies that empower children and uphold their rights. Passionate about child participation, she actively encourages meaningful involvement in decisions that shape their lives. She is also committed to advancing children's rights in the digital world, working to create safe, inclusive, and empowering online experiences. Through strategic leadership and unwavering advocacy, Suzanne continues to champion the dignity and rights of every child.
